Evening Talks in 2011
During which we will be presenting three talks looking at issues of Faith and life - with a guest
speaker and a chance for discussion.

18th February 2011 - Nick Spencer is Research Director at Theos – the public theology
thinktank, and author of a number of books, most recently Freedom and Order: History,
Politics and the English Bible (Hodder & Stoughton, 2010) He previously worked as
Research Director at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity and as researcher
and writer for the Jubilee Centre, and has a background is in a quantitative and qualitative
market and social research, for Research International and The Henley Centre. Nick
researches and writes on issues of religion and society. He is the author of a number of
Theos reports, including Doing God and Neither Private nor Privileged. He writes for
several publications including the Guardian and Third Way magazine. He is married to Kate
and they have two children, Ellen and Jonathan.

7th October 2011 - Christianity and Multiculturalism - Speaker Jonathan Chaplin from

And an Emmaus Course
St Luke's will be running its first Emmaus course in early 2011. Emmaus is a Christian basics
course produced by the Church of England, which is designed for those wanting to know more
about the Christian Faith and is a good start for those tentatively exploring Christianity.
The Emmaus Course will be running on Wednesday evenings 8pm for six weeks on January
12th, 19th,26th , February 2nd, 9th ,16th . For more details contact Mark Griffin on 01732

musicians to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Authorised Version of the Bible in word and
song.
